HOG RING INFO

There is a signifcant difference in the quality in hog rings manufactured in the United States versus overseas.

Thickness Matters

Don’t let our competition fool you! If you want two pieces of metal to stay firmly in place under stress you will want at least a 14 gauge hog ring. 16 gauge is easier crimp and often used in light upholstery, but it doesn’t have the holding power of a thicker hog ring. Spend the extra money and get the 14 gauge.

Hog rings are used to attach two articles together in a simple and easy manner including upholstery, textures and wire fence and wire confines. Compared to their counterparts such as staples or nails, hog rings provide more secure and firmer connection.

Hog ring are made of durable metal, permitting them to be twisted while keeping up the ring uprightness. Stainless steel, polished steel, galvanized and aluminum are frequent options. Copper plated and vinyl coated in different colors are also supplied on special request.

Hog rings have two types of points – sharp tip and blunt tip.

Sharp   :  tips offer good piercing capabilities and consistent ring closure. These are typically used in upholstery or anywhere you need to pierce a material and fasten it to something.

Blunt  :  tips promote safety hurting none who or which will be contacted directly. They are typically used in cages, traps, fencing

Frequently Asked Questions

Hog rings are small, U-shaped metal rings that are commonly used for closing or fastening materials in various industries, including automotive, upholstery, fencing, and construction.

Hog rings are typically made of galvanized steel or stainless steel, which makes them resistant to corrosion and rust.

The size of the hog ring you need depends on the thickness of the material you’re working with. Hog rings come in different sizes, usually measured in gauge or diameter. Make sure to choose the appropriate size for your project.

Hog rings can be applied with a pair of hog ring pliers, which squeeze the ends of the ring together to create a tight seal. Place the material you’re fastening between the two ends of the ring, then use the pliers to clamp the ends together.

Hog rings are commonly used in the following applications:

  • Fencing: hog rings are used to attach wire mesh to fence posts or other structures.
  • Automotive: hog rings are used to secure upholstery materials like seat covers and headliners.
  • Food industry: hog rings are used to secure casings on sausages or to close bags of produce.

Hog rings can be removed using hog ring pliers. Simply grasp the end of the ring with the pliers and squeeze the ends together to open the ring.

Hog rings are generally not reusable, as they are designed to be a one-time use fastener. However, some hog rings made of stainless steel can be reused if they are not damaged during removal.
